Diego Magaña is a climate organizer, nonprofit founder, and youth leader passionate about guerrilla gardening and native plant restoration. As founder of MiniNature Reserve, he transforms neglected urban spaces into thriving native habitats, empowering low-income and local communities through hands-on restoration and youth-led training.

Rooted in his hometown of Oxnard, California—a 75% Latino community facing documented environmental inequities—Diego’s work centers ecological justice, cultural restoration, and climate resilience. Through community-led MiniNature Reserves, partnerships with the Chumash Bear Circle, and signature MiniNature Reservist training programs, he builds the next generation of climate action leaders while restoring native biodiversity and fostering collective joy and hope for the future.
“It is when we learn humans are a part of nature, not apart from nature, that we can begin to heal ourselves, our planet, and our communities.
